I reallllly want a custom grille, but...

My problem is it's for a damn soccer-mom car (without the soccer mom). I have a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country (click an image for bigger pic):

That stock grille is ugly. I didn't realize how hard it would be to find a custom grille. I ordered one from Aim Industries, but their airbagit.com site mis-labeled a grill that really only works on a Dodge Caravan - it has the Dodge cross on the grille that separates it into 4 sections.

Any ideas? Is this something I could have custom made for a reasonable price? Can I modify a different grille to make it work? I'm hoping some of you can lead me in the right direction because I'm pretty sure I'm parked on a dead brain cell right now.

Thanks,

Grump

How about getting a piece of polished stainless and having some flaming skulls cut out of it...then mount it in place of original grill.

My local steel supplier can cut almost any design in a piece of sheet metal then paint it or powder coat it or send it out to be chromed..I have not got one to look at but it looks to be a simple curve so a custom grille may not be all that hard to do..All one needs be careful of is the airflow into the engine compartment. One might make the grille a bit smaller than the opening and mount it so it "floats" in the grille opening..

I remember seeing an ad in a Truckin' magazine for a grille company that you could send your stock grille to and they'd make a custom billet grille for you. I don't remember the company name, but I'll look through some old mags and see if I can find it.

Hmmm, sorry, the image of that in my mind just doesn't excite me. I guess I'm just a little more conservative than that.

I understand the air flow issue and it's an important one with this particular car because there is the radiator, as well as the air conditioner, an oil cooler and a tranny cooler to be concerned about there. I am partial to tube or bar looks, and the one I ordered from airbagit.com is a billet:

Although this pattern has a smaller opening than the stock grille, I think it's plenty adequate in air flow.

That's great, Jordan. I hope you'll be able to find it. I'll check the Truckin' site too and see if I can find some help there.

Thanks everyone. This topic got lost in the ether for a couple of days and I'm glad a staffer was able to rescue it. Maybe my dream of a custom grille can be a reality after all.
