Not a Ford guy at all..but here is the Start/ Charge system for a 68 Ford with external regulator and Alternator..
Those wires MUST be connected in order for it to charge and operate..If you have a secondary wire going to the Charge lamp that your not using, insulate it, mark it, and tie it back..
Sorry, you'll have to go By the color codes..no "I", "F" or "B" markings on the drawing, but it's not hard to figure out.
BUT, the "I" that goes to the lamp CAN be done away with .. The one that goes to the Alternator Must remain in order for it to run.
