I want a 6L80 too!

Hi,

I was thinking of getting a rebuilt TH700-R4 for my 77 c10 untill today. I was at the parts store waiting inline and picked up Novembers Hot Rod. The words "6-Speed Auto Trans Exclusive" caught my eye. I bought the issue and was very impressed with the thought of bypassing the 700-R4 for the new 6L80 if I can find one.

Mark

How about a 700R4 with 8 forward and double overdrive???? this you can get! the gearvendor unit is good for 20% fuel savings and is a bolt on deal! take a look at my photo album!

Maybe some of us could volunteer to do some real-world destructive testing or something.

Ronb,

Thanks for that information. I have a catalog on the way. It may be right item at the right time.

Crosley,
Am I correct in saying GM has stated that the Caddy supercar will be the first car to utilize this unit? Then maybe the supercharged CTS-V, and eventually 07-08+ Corvette possibly the z06 with Paddleshifting and lastly the h/d line of trucks?

6l90, I can't wait for it. What else can they do? Cryo/Harden from the input shaft to the output?

All I hear is the discussions about trying to get a unit into the shop. Management at my place may not even know what the apps would be.

One of the first items would be the tech specs needed for an aluminum pan. That seems easy but not always.

I certainly hope they close the gap from 1st to 2nd a bit. 4.06, 2.36, 1.53, 1.15, 0.85, and 0.67. A rear gear steep enough to make 1st gear useable would make 6th useless and vice-versa.
