ID some vacuum lines ?

Hey all.
Changed from a motorcraft carb to a Holley 3310 on my 72 Lincoln mark iv. Got a mostly stock 460. It has a lot of vacuum lines I took off and not sure what n were they go or if I can get rid of any. Don't have as many fittings on the Holley.
one pic is a thingy that has like 3 vaccum ports. The distributors vaccum advance goes to it then to the carb but weres the others go?
The other pic is on the side of the intake manifold. One vac line is broke off and I got the other plugged.
sounds like a suction pump when its started
Any help is appreciated. Hg

Thats usually a thermostatic vacuum advance port, you can remove it and plug the port in the manifold. It just restricts vacuum advance when the engine is cold.

Check out Autozone Vacuum diagrams for a 460 LTD

They don't have Lincoln. If it were me I'd jerk all that crap out and make it run with only PCV. Direct vacuum to the distributor with an appropriate advance curve. Nolan

Ok just looked at your photos, the photo on the left is for the choke heat, the right photo is just a vacuum splitter.

Your car likely has vacuum operated heater and vent doors so you will have to keep some of those vacuum ports.

The thermostatic vacuum sensor should be next to the upper rad hose where the thermostat is, you can toss that one.

Honestly there are so many hoses on those cars you need to run each one and find out where it goes to see what you can do with it.

Or you could post more pictures of each suspect and we can help.

BTW if your going to keep the motorcraft/autolite carb hook up that choke heat pipe to the choke thermostat, there is a slight vacuum created in the carb that draws air past the thermostat through that pipe.

city library ?

When I lived in California and had to pas the smog test I would go the the San Jose city library and they had an extensive automotive reference area. they had a book of vacuum and emission diagrams. and for a quarter the lady would make a blown up copy.

Distrib gets ported vacuum from the carb, lights and accessories get full manifold vacuum. If you have an autolite/motorcraft carb only one port on the carb is ported vacuum, should be facing front.
