Care to share where you found that info??

I ask as the venture diameter sure looks bigger than the 1.375-1.400" a 750 would have, to the naked eye. Looks polished out to 850 or bigger. The "4779" in the number doesn't mean it is still 750, just what it started as.

Awesomeears, what's the throttle blade size, and can you measure the approximate venture size at booster height.??

Thanks, it started life as a 750, but the larger 1.440" venturi and the slabbed(flat sided)throttle shafts would boost that some, and it looks as if the boosters have a bit of work too, a little streamlining through them.

I'd say this was BG's old 825 cfm rated carb, from back before he started making his own Claw and Demon lines. He was a Holley modifier/specialist for many years, my Father in law used one of his 850's done up to flow 1040 cfm back around 1994 and it had mods that are the same as yours, just on a larger core and plate size.

Maybe call Demon Carbs, as they may still have all his old records on file.

To dovetail with what Eric said; Ive seen a Barry Grant modified Holley that was marked very similar from the late 80s or so. He kind of had a meltdown on an internet forum some years ago, right around the time the Demon carbs had QC issues. I dont know if hes working for Holley as a consultant or not. His Holley modified carbs were a big deal back then.

Some added info...I just ran into a similar question posted on another forum, and a chart was posted showing venturi diameter, throttle blade size and what the cfm will be for Holley based carbs, regardless of who makes the carb.

The 1.400" venturi and 1.687" (1-11/16") throttle plate will be 825-830 cfm. Made from an 750 main body of 1.375"/1.390" stock venturi (Front/Rear sizes) opened up and polished, with the stock 750 size 1.687" blade size(#172 Blades).

Hope this helps. ;)

Awesomeears, you may want to recheck your measurements, to see if you really have 1.440" venturi and not the common 1.400" everyone seems to be using....same with the throttle blades, no one shows an 1.70", but that is very close to 1.687"(the #172 leads me to say you may have miss-measured, and remember blades will be slightly oval, so that they sit on an angle in a round bore and seal - they will be larger across than they are inline with the shaft)
