Idler arm bearings?

I seem to remember seeing a post a while ago about installing bearings in place of the standard bushings on an idler. Tried search but nothing found .

I need to change the bushings on my 56 chev sedan and thought this would be smoother.

Anyone see this thread or heard of this?

I have never heard of such a conversion. For that matter I can't think of what type of bearing you could use other than the bushings and spherical rod ends they use in them. There is too much side play and shock loading in that system for any type of ball or roller bearing to be happy very long there. All the ones I have ever seen are non-repairable, built form the factory throw-aways. Be interesting to see if someone out there has a better idea.

Idler arm bearing's?

I friend put me on to the Danchuk catalog and low and behold found what I was looking for as Part no.2872.

They call it the " poor mans power steering " Looks like a combination of bushings and bearings being used as replacments for the usual lone bushings.
There is even a tech article on the site covering the install

Tried to link it so you (willys36) could see it but can't make it work.
