Post Idling over 5000, Valve Covers Leaking

Engine runs great, but idles way to high. I tried everything with the carb and its perfectly fine. No links are broken nothing is staying open or sticking open for that matter. Whats else could be wrong?? Also my valve covers are leaking near the rear of the engine. I was given a Dress Up kit. What can I do to stop the leaking?? Thanks

Zee

Hey Zee try another carb. that carb has probably got a serious leak, might be the well plugs, might be float stuck or saturated, might be bad needle and seat, might just be bad, might be something missing bent or broken

Check for vaccum leaks, try neopreme gaskets on valve covers.

If you have positive crankcase ventilation the oil leak could actually be your vacuum leak.

Chrome valve cover are nice, but... Most of the dress up kits are very "tinnY" so they don't hold as well. You can try different gasket widths and, take you time doing it. Set the gasket to the cover and let it be over night. When installing them, don't be a yard ape and torque them down.
Slyfox hit on another very good point on vaccum leaks(I see your up the street from me as well)
You have two issues. Idle and leak. Fix one, then the other. Personally, I lean to the vaccum leak thing.
