IFS for 46 chevy truck

I have a 1946 Chevy 1/2 ton that I am working on. This is my frist one and I
am wondering if I should replace the original suspension system with an IFS.
Also, if I replace it, can I bolt on the parts from a Camero or should I go with the Mustang II suspension. I plan on putting a 327 with 400 or 700R transmission.

thanks

does it have a solid axle?? is it 4wd. Im assuming you mean independent front suspension. You should be able to get kits for it. But i may be wrong. Im working on a 1971 c10 that im gona lower so maybe we can help each other out. O yea welcome to the board and you might get better responses in the suspension forum.

If you look

If you look in my gallery you will find a '46 Chevy 1/2T Panel Truck with a M II kit installed. Not to pricy and not to hard to install. Got a little problem with the springs but that will be fixed this week and I will beable to show you it at the road ready ride height. The truck also has a SBC 350/400TH engine and trans. Let me know if you need some more info on doing this for your truck, be glad to help out any way I can. About the best thing I can say is been there, done that and happy I did.

The pics of the front end are on pg 3, the old front end is from an S-10 PU that the PO had put on the truck, it did not work.

sorry it took me so long to reply. . . great pics. How much welding was invloved? Did you use a bolt on kit? I really don't want to cut the frame How impractical is it to stay with the current straight axle and build up from there?

Its a weld in kit. You have to box the frame, weld in cross member and the top hats for the springs. I didn't have much of a choice because that old S-10 front end was not going to work at all for it. As for keeping the stock axle I'm not sure of. There is a guy here in town that has a '42 1/2T PU with the stock front end but he only has a 235 6cyl in it also. I got the spring problem I told you about fixed today but haven't got pics yet. I'll have to do that Sat.
