Im rewiring 1983 C10 truck and kit calls for wire to battery power , one to ignition accy. one to nuetral safety switch, problem they dont tell you which is which, and there are 9 different blade terminals on steering column. is there a drawing what each blade terminal does
B1 and B3 get battery power.. usually from different sources..
B1 and B2 are usually jumped... so you can use in versions that use a lot of current supply 3 wires to the middle row..
I1, S, and A get power from B1
B1 sends power to S while cranking. that is the starter circuit.
B3 sends power to I3
G1 and G2 Ground to the mounting bracket when the switch is in the CRANKING position only.. these ground the OIL pressure LIGHT and the TEMP light circuits for BULB check..
if you have GAUGES.. DO NOT use the G1 and G2.. only oil and coolant circuits with bulbs..
does this help.
I1 goes to the HEI and other switched ignition devices..
A is accessory... goes to the radio.. wipers...
I3... usually supplies current to the HVAC system.. heater blower fan..
most GM applications may use a 14 gauge fusible link for the B1 and a different 14 gauge fusible link for the B3 if you are running the HVAC system. this should be good.. if not.. drop the B3 to a 16 gauge fusible link..
it all depends on what loads you are switching
if you have a problem with the alternator light keeping the engine running via feedback.. move the alternator light power to the A terminal.. this usually only effects systems that use a load dropping relay for the HEI power..
at autozone.. duralast #263 should be the pair of ignition switch connectors with short wiring pigtails.. don't forget that the I3 terminal on the switch is WIDER than the others..
Ignition Group
# 31 Pink (Coil)
Originates from the fuse panel and connects to the to the ignition switch terminal marked “IGN”
# 32 Brown (Ignition Switch Accessory)
Originates from the fuse panel and connects to the ignition switch terminal marked “ACC” - (22 Cir. Only)
# 33 Orange (Ignition Switch Accessory)
Originates from the fuse panel and connects to the ignition switch terminal marked “ACC”
# 34 Red (Ignition Power)
Originates from the fuse panel and connects to the ignition switch terminal marked “BAT”
# 19 Purple (Neutral Safety)
Originates from the ignition switch and connects to the neutral safety switch.
