Ignition upgrade..ur info appreciated

Ok guys I have a decision to make. I'm budgetted out at the moment and am looking to upgrade my ignition. I have a few choices. I have a 1978 small block chevy 350. It's got flowtech headers edelbrock performer intake and 600 carb. I have stock ignition at the moment with some cheapo 8mm wires. What I need to know is should I go with new performance wires(I'm looking at the pertronix flame throwers, MSD heli cores the superstock accels and the taylor pro wire )a simple coil upgrade no cap and rotor(lookin at the accel super coil) or coil cap and rotor(lookin at the summit hei upgrade). I also would like to know how much of a differance it is to change your ignition modual. The summit upgrade does not come with one.

Now I can only go with one of those and need to know which one to go with first and which one is best. Some information and or experianced knowledge with them would help alot. Thanks much

ok from what I've been reading the accell is junk. But I have seen a few people running the summit upgrade on this website. So I think that and a pair of wires would make a nice cheap upgrade. I was thinking the pertronix seeing how they seem to be a favorite of many. Any comments suggestions?

Ignition up-grade

I have a re-built UAP/NAPA HEI dist with an Accel module,Proform 50,000 volt coil, and Accel 8.8mm SuperStock wires.I have been using this combo for going on 5 years with no trouble, although I did buy some 90 degree boots for a couple of wires to better clear the headers, and I also have a set of Jegs boot protectors.Apparently Accel has,or had,a bad reputation, but the parts I am using have been trouble free so far.I have on occasion turned my Big Block up to 7000 RPM and never had a miss or a hitch.Hope this helps!
