Ignorant things your boss has said to you...

Here is a couple of choice quotes from my "new" boss, enjoy.

"Since your not a professional mechanic you don't need professional quality tools."

"You were dumb to bring your personal tools to work to help the department."

"You are not here to make anyone happy, stop trying."

"I know you ordered 5 of those items, I reduced the order to 3 to save money...if you need more just order it again."

"If you worked till 5:00AM completing that presentation you shouldn't expect us to let you have the next day off with pay, do you want me to take it off your sick time?"

[I received a personal commendation from the CEO for the work I did on the emergency presentation that affected patient safety and was eventually compensated when I sent an e-mail asking for $100 per CD for copies (10) distributed at the presentation meeting.]

"Income protection (sick time) is to used in instances where you are on your death bed, not for every little sniffle or cough."

...and on Friday he said to me.

"I will be happier when I can get everyone in the department to fly below the radar."

I think that means "NOBODY MOVE!", thats how the rest of the guys in the department have interpreted it anyway.

My boss came over ( the wife also worked for him ) one night and brought some extra work for us. This was the 1st time he had been in our home.

Gee, you should really quit being so cheap and buy a nice house- something you can be proud of. Ok lets trade paycheques you moron.

You used to much fuel today. Next time you it is coming off your cheque.

What do you mean you are going to be late? I made it to work on time. I had to drive 100+Km in a snow storm . His office is in his house. I also got in crap another time when the truck broke down and I was late. It was HIS truck

I offered to use my car to help out. He said "that piece of junk. I can't have you representing the company in that car" It was an 80s Crown Vic with nice paint.

Gary should make more money than you. He has been here longer. I know he is usually late and tends to fart around but we don't want him to quit do we?

This is why I now work for myself.

I must be lucky then...

my boss and his fellow bosses are just one of the guys out on the floor. You come to work every scheduled day and on time and do your assigned work and they are great...piss around and blow off work or be late constantly or try and put your work off on someone else and thats a different story.

he recruited me from a home depot type place where you NEVER sit around doing nothing or you will be home and can do nothing all the time.i was laid off in january and completely forgot to go back in the spring.lol.mike

Ohhh man how do you have the patience to hold it in. Your a stronger man than myself and most I know.

Good thing theres a net to vent the anger. That guy is a moron, he must have graduated top of class from Mule University becuase hes a total jack ***.

Time to go above his head and have him bitten where the sun dont shine. (I'm sure the place both you guys work for will love your bosses philosophies.)
Does Canada have labor laws? I dunno, but the one where you had worked overnight and got told you dont get pay for the next day seems a little ripe to me, that would make me boil big time. To heck with the next days pay thats time and a half (overtime pay).MORE MONEY than the regular next day pay..

Everyone has a boss to answer to, even the self emplyed...(the wife's) haha

Have a good one
Abe

LOL. I totally forgot about that, thats the 2nd most important boss to make happy when your self employed, your customer...
Word of Mouth works with pleased customers. Probably alot easier to get along with the customers than it would to be controlled by the boss. Customers are easier to suck up to being they arent riding your butt everyday for however many years. Some are still idiots though and try to take too much advantage.

Bosses

Can't complain about mine. I get a schedule at the beginning of the year that tells me where to be and how many hours I have to work each day. The schedule is for the entire year. I probably see and talk to my boss 4 times per year. I show up every 2 weeks turn in my paper work, sign a time sheet and I'm done. I don't see him then because it's usually at night or the weekend when I turn everything in. He give me a truck & boat for an office so I can't complain.

Actually I know he was checking out my computer at work looking for dirt to dig up on me, I have witnesses he was in my office for four hours on a Saturday and apparently he went from computer to computer spending about an hour at each one. He knows I am a moderator here and was probably looking for evidence I was on here during work hours, I have already alerted everyone in the department to his activities...thank goodness I am a good boy at work and only use the internet access for work related activities.

He is systematically tearing down all that I have created over the last 5 years and has been stepping all over my scope of responsibility (even threatened to remove me as "senior"!), we have had it out once already and in retaliation wrote me and my partner up for "attendance management". You can bet I am giving him all the rope he wants because I have three mouths to feed at home and can't afford to just quit like I would have in my younger years. One thing is for sure, it won't last...you can only treat people like garbage for so long.

The other techs have now nicknamed him "Her Furer" and we pass in the hallways with a raised open hand as a greeting, how sad is that. He stops in every morning one minute past my start time hoping to catch me coming in late and even sets meeting schedules to occur at my start time so that I have to be there early to be prepared (not easy when your wife works the night shift at the same facility and gets home 30 minutes before I have to be at work). The other techs are working to rule and have slowed everything to a crawl, the work is piling up and he has refused to authorize any overtime. I continue to try my best to push things through but he keeps putting up barriers, for example he forced the job of department health and safety officer as well as WHMIS officer on me. These are both jobs he was responsible for previously and as anyone who has done these jobs will tell you, it is death for any relationship between management and the employee (I've been there and done that).

Here is a funny story you might get a kick out of, it really outlines the kind of relationship that now exists in our department.

We had a student for the summer from a tech school a couple of provinces over, real smart guy and a hard worker too. Seems one day he was working in the lab and one of the techs wouldn't stop talking, so like the resourceful kid he is he pops a IM program into the computer and IM's the next IP in the chain from his computer with the message;

"SHADDUP!"

The afternoon goes on and he stops by the techs desk to see if he got the message, the tech doesn't know what the heck he's talking about? Panic sets in and he races around the department to see who it was that got the message, he checks my bosses desktop but there is no message there. He continues to check all the computers in the department until he realizes he didn't check the office, scared as he was he asks a fellow tech to check for him. When the tech goes to check the office he's greeted by my boss and the director at his desk discussing who it might be that hacked the system and sent the message, apparently security and IS had already been called and the director was concerned he may need an escort to get to his car that night!

How funny is that! Only a temp student could have pulled that prank and got away with it thats for sure.

As for if he reads this forum or not? I could care less, at this point there is nothing he can do to me that he already hasn't done. The feelers are out and there are 11 hospitals in this city, I am one of 11 people that do this job in Canada, another job offer should not be too far away.

These feet were made for walkin...so thats just what I'll do.
