ikm thinking about using a higher stall converter

im considering using a 2400 stall in a mild 318 for the streets w/ holley 600,MP cam .430/.450, 9.0:1, cop heads 1.78/1.50's w/ adjustables, A-904 auto w/ BM kit. i think it has 3.55's. i liked the post about a 2100 in a truck, and am looking for some honest expiriences like that.

i used a 1900 stall in a old chevelle. i did it when i built the engine. i really couldnt tell if it was the engine or trans making the differences. what would a 2,400 or 3000 stall be like on the street. does it effect part throttle as much as WOT? after your moving / cruising you have to be above RPM stall right? so leaving it in 2nd would help with this... this is streets and trips car, has to do the occasional light towing.

the lowly 318 is currently the budget underdog. GM small blocks are starting to cost some money(nix the 305-307). ford small blocks are expensive. the other cryslers are expensive. the lowly 318 has long rods, ,and a power potential as good as the bigger blocks, or anything close to it. man, they are cheap. highway recycling has em at $30-50 in a big pile. take out the spark plugs and find the one with the rotating crank!

I run a 2400 stall in my truck with 4.10 gears. I really dont notice it much. It does accelerate quicker when I get into it and I can notice a bit of slip on the street under certain circumstances. If I am traveling slow and let it shift and right when it shifts give it a bit more gas i'll hear the engine rev up a bit before it catches.

Id go for it. I enjoy it much more than my stock stall and dont really find any negatives with it on the street.
