Im bored so, Just sharing a cool pic and story.

Almost an entire full size truck into the bed of my truck, only thing missing is the engine front/rear axles, trans, and transfer case, EVERYTHING else is in there.

After rebuilding the entire drive train and finishing most of the body work on my 81 Ford (4 years of work), I drove it about 20 minutes, was stopped at a light and was hit from behind by an AMC eagle 4X4 station wagon doing about 45-50 MPH the old lady didn’t even hit the brakes, she said the sun was in her eyes, thank god she was OK.

Both vehicles where totaled, the bed along with the frame buckled and bent upward about 24” the frame also twisted make the bed of my truck come up about 10” and crush the back of the cab in about 6” and buckled the drivers side door, the force pushed me into an SUV in front of me which destroyed the hood and both fender, the only body part I could save was the passenger side door.

The front end of her car was gone, the front axle broke in half, and the motor was pushed over side ways and coming through the dashboard on the passenger side.

So I bought me an 83 ford and transferred my drive train to it and torched everything else left of my 81ford and loaded it onto the 83 ford to take to the scrap yard.

Goodthing you're all ok!

That is nutso! I swear... old people... I mean bad drivers need to be taken off the road. Can't they make the driving test a little more difficult... I mean for crying out loud! They took off the parallel parking bit because people couldn't do it!

Kinda reminds me of that Cadillac commercial where a pinto and an escalade truck find an open parking space and the pinto ends up parking in the bed of the truck... except this is verrrrrry different

Man, I hope her insurance paid for your 83!

I was pretty damn pi$$ed off until I got out and saw the damage, then I thought I was going to find a dead person in the car, that thought calmed me down, but what I found was a nice old lady that was very sorry, after talking with her, she seemed to be a very capable driver, she just made a very bad mistake, accidents do happen.

Her insurance company gave me $2,750 for my truck that I had about $12,000 into, the problem they had was it had several different colors of body parts on it, and primer, I had receipts showing what I had into it, but they did what insurance companies do best, bent me over and gave it to me.

When I was hit, I went partially through the back window and my neck smack the window frame or the bed of the truck when it buckled up, so they also had to pay for surgery to fix 3 herniated disks, a broken vertebra in my neck, and 6 months of physical therapy, I didnt even know I was injured until about an hour after the accident, and my wife had to take me to the emergency room, because I couldnt move my arms and head, not to mention the pain that set in, I think that cost them $10,000 to $15,000.

By the way this all happened about 7 years ago, all is well.

Wow.
I'm glad your wife took you into the emergency room when she did. You're right, accidents do happen, but there is no excuse for the cause of one. NO EXCUSE. If the sun's in your eyes, they make these things called SUNglasses and a car SUN visor. If that isn't enough to allow you to drive without putting another motorist at risk, then pull over. Some accidents aren't as forgiving as the one you were in. You're very fortunate. I just wish people wouldn't be so ignorant. <sore spot>

You are so right Fastncrazy, she should have been driving for the conditions, she should have been wearing sunglasses and she definitely should not have been going as fast as she was if she could not see, I hope she learned from it.
