I have restored several antique cars in the past.Now I am building a hot rod.1926 ford t sedan.the structure of the car is wood with the sheet metal tacked to it.i want to use an aluminum top on it or a steel top.Don't know what is best. any help out there?

Why not make a removable glass top.. Once it's made.. You can either paint it or have it covered..

Might be a little hard to do with a four door.. But it can be done..

Aluminum will be a bit more difficult of you need to do any welding. the flat sheets of metal will require some skills in shrinking and stretching as well as some wheeling. on a rod replace the wood with formed square tubing as this works better..

glass will require some molding skills to do succesfully..

your choice and it comes down to your skills as well as the types of tooling you have to work with..

Sounds interesting. Did you build the wood framewook from scratch? We'd love to see some pictures of what you are doing and how you are doing it. Might even help so folks can better respond to your roof building question.

Thanks for your reply.I thought about a glass top and it is a good idea.I have done very little with glass.I would like to post a picture of my project but I don't know how.I am 60 and computer literate but need some help with this.I like to restore cars.I was out in my 1906 model n ford today.Thanks
