I'm just glad to be back and safe!

They finally got the local fires (close to me) under control enough for me to get back to work. There is a lot of soot in here, but no fire damage. The house is OK too, Thank God! It was pretty scary yesterday morning at 5:00 watching the fire crest a hill 5 miles from the house, and hearing the crackling of the trees being burnt. I got to watch the Firemen set a series of burns in front of it, and watch it climb up and watch it burn itself out. So far I have only one customer still in danger of loosing their house in Jamul. Keep them in your prayers, their last name is Northum.

That Chit sucks man We have had some real dry seasons here .in the past 10 years.

The rain patterns are not what they used to be.

Here around 3PM you could plan on it raining like hell every day it would turn the sky black the street light would come on & rain like . . . . a hurricane . its crazy.

A few month ago, Here we go again, with the drought ,there again the Sky's were filled with smoke we were getting smoke & ash from Mid Georgia!! Hundreds of miles away.

I hope it rains like mad & puts that stuff out.

I'm Pulling for you we are all in this together.

This morning at sunrise they started launching helicopters and fixed wing aircraft that headed out, right over the house, to give an all out assualt on the fires.

I watched some coverage of this on the BBC News and in one report was a guy sadly looking at his collection of old cars reduced to scrap.

This week was a pretty crazy week. The fires never threatened my house, but I had a few people who got evacuated from their houses living with me. First, the Master Sergeant I work for needed a place to stay because he was evacuated from Fallbrook. Then I found out one of my Marines was staying in a gym on base because they were evacuated from Fallbrook, so we brought him, his wife and four daughters in too. Couldn't have them living in a gym when we could help them out. So, my three bedroom, two bath house was quite full...five adults and six kids. They are all back home now, their houses were not damaged. When we go back to work on Monday we will probably have a bit of work to do. One of the fires on base came within a couple hundred yards of our shop, so I am sure their will be a bunch of soot and ash to clean up.

I am not too familiar with Fallbrook, I have just driven through it a bunch of times getting to the I-15. However, I do know that the fires affected mainly the eastern area of town. Pretty much everything "in town" was OK. The fire stayed pretty close to I-15. A majority of the damaged homes were in a trailer park, of which about 3/4 was destroyed.

I just got good news from the Northum's. Their place was not damaged, although many people from their church lost their homes.

I just heard that by Friday we are supposed to be getting more Santa Ana winds. Let's just pray they get these fires totally under control or out by then.
