I'm no bodyman, just havin some fun.

I've never tried bodywork but I have read alot about it and now I am experimenting on my '56 ford. I know that buying new fenders would be the quick and easy fix but again I am experimenting. Whatever happened to 'Glazing Putty'?? I cant find any anywhere.

Hey flyinv55- gone are the days of the old 'spot putties'- now you can use a two part polyester finishing putty which is more durable and compatible with today's finishes. Look at your local supply stores (I use Martin Senour paints at NAPA a lot) and they should clue you in on what you need

Ask for a tube of "Icing" with activator.

Icing is too thin. Get some platinum glaze. It sands nice and it is a little thicker than Icing. I always have a problem with Icing running right off the spreader before I get it to the panel I'm putting it on or having it run off the mixing board.

I have used Evercoat Metal Glaze with great results. I personally love evercoat products and their tech department is very friendly, I had used alot of their stuff but hadnt used the Metal to Metal so I called them about it and They actually sent me a free quart to try! Now thats customer service!!

Excellent work! "Glazing putty" was a lacquer primer in a tube (basically) and JUNK by todays standards. I have to agree with Evercoats products being top knotch. I have used all Evercoat fillers for years with trouble free service.

As far as a modern "Glazing Putty" again, Metal Glaze or Glaze Coat from Evercoat are my favs. They are the identical product but with a different color. The "Glaze Coat" is beige with a white hardener and probably hard to mix properly for the newbe, stick with "Metal Glaze" which is light blue with the blue hardener, much easier to see when it is mixed properly.
