I'm Stupid! How do I remove this headlight switch?

Ok, I give up. trying to remove the headlight switch out of a dashboard I am changing out. It's an older type-1 position for parking lights, next for headlights, twist for interior lights. I am not sure what it's come out of.

It doesn't seem to pull off like a radio know, won't unscrew, doesn't seem to have a pin or anything holding it together-any help? Thanks.

Is there a spring loaded button on the housing? If Ford style, push and hold the button while gently pulling the knob and shaft out.

I posted a Wiki a while back. and the main thing is to push in the release button when you reinstall the switch knob-shaft or you can break the Ceramic dimmer Rheo .
