Post Impala rear suicide doors

Hi. New member here from New Zealand.
Ive got my hands on my dream car - a 4 door pillarless 64 impala. I am wanting to suicide the rear doors. There isn't much here in the way of door kits or advise.
Can anyone help in the way of pictures or a website? Im trying to draw up plans but the main problem is getting a hinge to sit neatly in the curved section over the wheel.
Im also wanting to use the same original door handles and latches to give it Lincoln Continental Look. Is this possible.
Help
Joe

HK, the 64 Impala 4door hardtop is used throughout the movie "Mississippe Burning" starring Gene Hackman and William Defoe. It is being used as an FBI car, as if the GSA would have spent the money on a 4door Hardtop. Sure. Yeah right.

Its actually a rare find. Its got power steering, air conditioning and power windows, all standard. But needs much TLC. Ive been looking for this one for about 5 years.
I just need the side on Lincoln look to make it perfect.

I'll run this by old Dr. Chop and see what he says. This is an ambicious project to say the least. It will be way cool when done. Look at those new trucks with the rear doors or the new economy car that has the suicide door. The quadtro or something like that

The Saturn Coupe has rear doors that are of a suicide type as do several of the club cab trucks.

Joe,
Does the rear door curve up over the rear wheelwell? I have a 4 door 1964 Fairlane, and I've been having the same problem. there is only like a 5 inch space that is straight on the back end of the door, and I have a feeling that any hinge there would bend. I got a set of plans off of ebay for around 10 dollars, they're a series of CAD drawings and measurements to make your own hinges, the only problem is that the hinges are supposed to be spread farther apart than our cars will allow.
I'll tell you what I've been thinking of trying. I don't know if it will work, but I might give it a try and see how it goes. I was going to use the plans I got, and build a single hinge for the door (pretty much a stock GM hinge connected to new fabricated bars), but instead of just welding the hinge to the inside of the door jam, I was going to run a 1/2" thick metal bar all the way back the inside of the quarter panel and weld it farther back on the car (give it the leverage so it doesn't bend the door jam metal). Then you can just make your hinge pieces and make the arm a little longer on the door, so that doesn't bend either. I guess you'll have to see the plans to know a little better what I'm talking about, check out ebay and search for "suicide door plans". A guy named Chris Hicks makes them, he's based in Canada. Since you're in New Zealand he might just let me scan and send you pictures of them so you can see what I'm talking about.
If anyone else knows how to really do this, or understands what I mean and think it will work, let me know because I think Joe's impala and my fairlane would look awesome with the suicide back doors. Sorry if that is all confusing, it's a little tough to explain without a picture. Let me know how it goes Joe, good luck.

~Frank~
