Importing Paint into Canada

Hi all.

I noticed that many people here are from Canada, and was wondering if anyone has sucessfully imported paint into Canada from the States?

I was planning on getting some Southern Polyurethanes product, but there is no distributer in Canada apparently.

I can just order it through one of their suppliers in the states, but I was wondering if anyone has done this? I don't know what the customs regs would be, and if it would be a major pain.

Thanks very much,

Matt Watson

I find that kind of hard to believe, have you contacted them to ask about a Canadian distributor or reseller?

Matt,I suspect there are WHMIS (Cdn safety code) regs regarding this.I have purchased Sign painter's One-Shot from Carmine at Classic Performance in Calgary, and he's obtained that with no trouble, but he's an Eastwood dealer.Maybe check with him at 216-6060 and see if he can offer any advice on shipping paint products.Tell him I said hi

Yah, I emailed them and asked before I posted this.

I might just see if I can ship it through. Or Maybe contact one of their US distributers...

I can't really see any problems with the shipping of the paint over the border... I might be charged excessive handling by customs, but at SP's prices that still would be cheaper than buying something that is sold here...

I guess I may just get in contact with the Calgary customs office and see what they have to say.

Matt

Matt,
I just emailed Jeff to check out the deal.

Getting across the boarder is pretty cheap, it does not matter the size its 1%
of value.
what i don't know is if you must use a "freight forwarder" both the Warehouses had there own to handle paper work.
Will try to find out

Thanks Barry!

I assumed that it would cost me quite a bit to get the stuff here, I just didn't know how customs would react to it.

Any help you could offer would be great!

Anyone you would recommend to buy from since I have to ship from the states?

Thanks so much for the help!

As for intrest, I am working on a 1946 nash 4door semi-rod. I was actually planning on trying out their bases as well. Most likely the viper blue

Thanks again for the help barry

Matt
