Just a note about keeping any compressor in an unheated area during freezing weather, watch for that unloader valve line freezing up! Any time you start any compressor, new or otherwise, that has been sitting idle in freezing weather watch it until it builds up to shut-off pressure and make sure you get that momentary hiss when the pump stops. It's not at all uncommon for a drop of water to be somewhere in the line or valve preventing it's proper operation if frozen. Usually the compressor will start OK the first time if the pressure is a little low but after the first cycle the motor may have to try to start the pump turning under a load if that unloader is plugged off by ice. A tripped breaker is the usual result when this happens but a damaged motor is a real possibility too!
