indiana registration stickers question

a customers car we are working on right now has an indiana plate on it.

i am confused by the stickers on the plate

on the left top corner is a red one it says 02-07 and on the right top corner is a yellow one that says 10

*** is this ?

is it current ?

how does registration work over there ?

how long do they last ?

and do plates stay with owner or with the car?

here in IL you buy the sticker and it lasts one year and is always the same month each year no matter when you buy the new sticker, so there is only one sticker on the plate and it has the month and year on it.

and the plates stay with the owner not the vehicle,

it is 78 bucks a year for new plates(39 if you transfer/re-class them from another vehicle)
also 78 for a new sticker
and if you buy the sticker late(after the end of the month that your registration/sticker/plates are then its 98 for it,

a few years ago it was 48 for registration/plates/sticker

title transfers went from 13 to 65 at the same time

plus 25 tax for IL dept of revenue

so its 78 plus 65 plus 25 to put an older vehicle on the road when you just bought it etc, plus insurance in which recently they started making you prove that it is insured before you can register it. new thing for IL.

thanks

If it's at all like Manitoba, that would mean expiration on Feb 10 2007. Might be different in IL though, like Feb 7 2010.

Over here we have to renew our insurance and our driver's license four months after our birthday. Used to be everything was due at the end of the month but they changed it to specific dates to ease up on lineups.

It's good till Feb. 07 2010. To alleviate long lines at the end of every month. They decided to split the months up. The owner's last name starts with A,b or c probably. Plates are good for a year. You must have an insurance company name and policy number. Although, some one I knew made his own numbers up years ago. Plates are in the area of 30-35 dollars plus excise tax which can be several hundred dollars for a newer car. Generally when you renew, you get a year sticker to put over previous year.

Excise tax is a tax based on the 'agreed upon value' of the vehicle payable to the state.

It's an encouragement by the state to drive an older vehicle, since the tax drops off after a certain cutoff time.
