inexpensive source for fiberglass reinforced body filler
Hi guys,
I'm looking the the most inexpensive source for fiberglass reinforced body filler. I prefer Dyna-Glass, as I've had the best results with it. I use this to make bucks, and I have a lot of them to make. I have to make a buck for every single external panel for the '37-42 Willys Coupe. These are made directly off the original part and used as a guide for shaping new panels. Here's an example. These were made off original steel '63 Impala fenders. I was hired to build a set of aluminum fenders for a Z-11 clone car and the best way to get them right is to have a buck. I can now build aluminum '63 Impala fenders for ever!! It took 2 gallon of Dyna-Glass to do each of these fender bucks, so needless to say, it's going to take an overwhelming amount to make bucks for an entire '37-'42 Willys coupe, thus the reason for finding an inexpensive source for the filler. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Randy Ferguson |

What do you consider a good price? I think I got my last can of Bondo brand premium gold stuff for about $10.
And I am with Been, I was giddy with delight when I saw you stooping to buy Bondo!!!!!! And I would think if you went to a supplier and offered to buy it by the case you could get a substantial break. |

Willys36,
There's a huge difference between premium body filler and Dyna-Glas. The Dyna-Glass goes for around $25.00 gal. The smart shoppers price is $27.00 per gallon and drops to $23.00 per gallon by the case (4Gal) I only use filler for buck building and pattern making!! Randy |

Hey Milo,
There's no sanding involved, so no itch!!!yippee!!!!!! Don't have to breathe that nasty dust either!! So, is the only inexpensive source Smart Shoppers??? I'm only 3 hours from Louisville and I'll be there for the Kyana swap meet in March. I may have to save up my pennies go that route. Last I checked with getting some direct, I was told I could get something like 20 gal for $17.00, but that deal was only good for that one batch, as the prices were going up and it would almost double in price. It hasn't quite done that, but it is quite a bit higher than what I used to buy this stuff for. I'd even go for a cheap knock-off to how it worked. Randy |

Hey Randy,
I saw the "buck" part, but it was all about a Master metal man looking for bondo. We HAD to tease ya a little bit.... Side note: I SAW RANDY personally use BONDO on metal last year! Caught him redhanded! OK< so it was for smoothing out a rough panel on Bennetts truck, so he could make an accurate flexible pattern. He used the pattern to make a replacement panel for the truck that looked 200% better than the original could have EVER looked. Raw talent. I'm jealous! |

I about choked when I saw you were looking for filler. I've read all of your post and you are my hero, I have told all my friend to come to this sight and make sure they read your posts, now you want to buy body filler at a discount because you use so much of it, you had everyone worried.
Any ways, I don't know how much you want to buy, but why don't you go to bondo- online.com and see if they will work with you on price. Thats where Dyna- glas comes from, you can contact them thru e-mail or call. both contacts are there on the sight. If you try let us know. Good luck! |

I read some posts from a guy in Canada on another forum. He said he bought West Marine epoxy in bulk and chopped fiberglass by the bag to make his own pretty cheaply.
Since you need a lot, it might be worth a little experimenting. I have not done this so I offer no guarantees |
