Initial Break-In
76 Chev Pickup, 350/th350, 3:40's, ,mild cam, flat top pistons, stock heads, Q-jet, stock manifold...
After my first rebuild, a year ago, lost oil pressure.....read all posts regarding oil pressure. Pulled the engine, mains severely worn ( believe a bead got in there after blasting)
What I did this time was set her in, bolt up the trans, THEN I put oil and filter in, and primed it BEFORE hooking up the torque converter; then I found TDC, bolted on my accessories, cranked her up, ALL GOOD!
So I ran her about 25 minutes, (in the driveway) revved up to about 2000RPM a couple of times, brought up to temp, shut down.
Oil is still pretty and "piss colored". Changed the oil. Gonna go 100 miles and change again, then 500 miles/change.
Sound correct?
Hope she lasts longer than a year this time..........
