"Injection Injection....whats you function?"

Yeah, I know the title does not rhyme, get over it.

Has anybody ever installed an Edelbrock ProFlo EFI system? I am interested in these aftermarket EFI and TBI systems that Holley and Edelbrock make.

They are just like a big tbi i guess, nothing too special. But they sure are expensive.

a guy in my monte carlo club just installed. He loves it.. said he's seen a HUGE jump in mpg's, and WAY more low-end torque.

as long as you don't have a high rpm engine, TBI will do you just fine
but if you are gonna drop the cash, find a multi-port setup.
either a TPI engine, or something custom.

TPI is Chevy only, right?

What makes the MFI system that much better for high RPMs?

I want to do an engine swap, want EFI of some sort and just dont want to deal with computers from major manufacturers. This seems a little simpler.

its not so much what makes TPI better, as it is what makes TBI worse.

Factory TBI's are only a small 2bbl carb in effect.. then you mount two MASSIVE fuel injectors right over the top of the venturis further disturbing air flow.

they just don't breathe worth a crap. there are some aftermarket 4bbl tbi units that are apparently better, but I have no experience with them.
i had a stock 4.3L v6 in my astro van with tbi and it was wheezing hard by 4000 rpm with a stock tbi. and all chevy engines had the same TBI throttlebody EXCEPT the ss454 engine which was a little bit bigger.

stock TPI engines are only good to about 5000-5500 themselves, but with some aftermarket intake runners you can push that up to 6500 easy.

multiport injection in general is better because you are sucking only "dry" air thru the intake, not an air/fuel mix, and because the injectors are pointed right at the intake valves, throttle lag is reduced significantly.

It doesn't work better... the big difference is that the way most TBI setups are made they tend to have small throttle bores and they are limited to 2 or 4 injectors, so it's harder to get both the fuel and air into the engine needed for higher rpms. Assuming that you have those 2 covered, I would argue that a TBI setup is actually better for most use.
