Inline 6/sbc

was wondering if you can take a 3 speed from a I6 and attach to a sbc? is there things that just have to be changed like bellhousing,flywheel,clutch etc etc. anyone done it? bad stories good stories?

If it's from a Chevrolet 194, 230, 250 or 292 engine, yes.
If it's from a Chevrolet 216, Early 235, late 235, or 261, no.
If it's from a GMC 228, 248, 270, or 302, no again.

i did a few searches on the internet for information to older Chevy GMC I6's and transmission swaps with little to no information on swapping between them, and nothing on what was available for the older generation engines.

hello here is my 2 cents my 70 chevy short bed tranny went bad
and it has a 250 I6 a quick trip to the field of dreams (junkyard)
and a tranny from a 76 truck with a 350 at a cost of 40.00$ and
a driveshaft and it is back on the road.
