At the risk of over simplification, this is a piece of 3MM PVC foamboard. Literally, two minutes ago it was flat. You heat it until it gets soft and then bend it to whatever shape you want. To get a consistent curve, you should use a form of some kind, and use gloves. I did this with my bare hands. When it cools, it holds the shape you bend it in. If I re-heat it, I can flatten it back down, or make the curve even more pronounced. Now all you do is cut it, shape it, paint it, cover it with vinyl, whatever. It forms beautifully with normal woodworking tools.
