inside 49 chevy truck door

How do I get into my 49 chevy truck door? I don't see anyway to get inside.
I am sure there is a way to get in there without cutting it open.
Thanx in advance.......Soggy.

I really don't understand what you are saying. The door has a small trim panel at the top that you remove the screws and the handles and it will come off. At the very bottom there is another much smaller panel that comes in handy when you drop something down in the door.

What is it you want to do? You can remove the window reg and what not thru that hole at the top behind the trim panel.

the whole inside panel comes off?

The whole inside panel comes off of this 49 3100 door?
I sure wish there was a picture somewhee showing me this because sometimes I think I just can't see the obvious. I took the inside window trim off and still don't see the screws. I am trying to replace the glass and tidy up the register for another 60 years of service. Maybe my approach is all wrong.
soggy....

In my welcome to you I posted a link to the 49-51 Chev manual. It has everything you need.

'49 chevy door

Soggy, i once had an old truck where I used snaps instead of screws to make it easier to get into the door panel, maybe you need a prybar! This used to be common. Also, have some clutch-head screwdrivers handy if the other hardware is original.

Home brew is correct. Read the manual on line. It tells you exactly how to replace the glass.

The FIRST lesson people need to learn when working on an old car or truck is to get the body and maintenance manuals before tearing into something. Remember, there's a reason those manuals were published in the first place and it was to make working on these old cars easier for the mechanics and body men of the time. Guesswork very often results in expensive damage. Why take the chance, use the manuals.
