We have a 1939 Willys pickup. The rear glass was cracked when we bought so decided it was time for a replacement. Noticed the rubber seal would "open" and the glass would come out. It was tight and actually wound up cracking the glass more but it was still together and usable as a pattern. I had a local company cut a new piece of safety glass but now have a problem getting it back in. I can't seem to hold the rubber seal "open" enough to force the window in. Is there a trick to it? Are there any web sites with pics?

If it is like most older cars , place the glass in the rubber gasket then take a peace of butcher string around it in the outside grove then lube the rubber and string with pine jelly .
place the window and gasket in the opening seating the bottom edge first then pull the string out in such a way that it pulls the rubber over the edge of window opening working evenly both ways . While your helper keeps pressure on the glass pushing in and down at the same time .
