I just got a transmission form a guy and he said it has like 500 miles on a fresh fluid and filter change, so i get it back home and put it in my car with the torque converter that was supplied with the tranny. everything is installed but the kick down cable and nothing happens. If i start the car and put the engine in any gear you hear it click into the gears but nothing happens the torque converter is in properly and i don't know what is left to check, any suggestions could help?
After you tightened the bell bolt's could you still spin the converter? First thing I would do is a pressure test to make to have pressure. If the converter was bound up, it might have broke the pump gears.

You're right. I should have added the part about trans being low on fluid. If you don't fill the converter the pump will fill the converter which will result in the trans being so low that nothing will happen... If there wasn't enough fluid in the trans to begin with. My bad.
Got a donor car from the local buddy that has the wrecking yard, gravel pit operation. the trans was clean and painted but didn't work,,, pulled the pan and the nut was loose on the shifter mechanism ,,, easy fix.
