Post Installing an inner wheel house

I'm in the process of replacing my RH rear quarter and outer wheel house on my 1968 Mustang convertible. I found that the inner house has to be replaced also. The inner house has a flat on the top section, I would beleive thats for space when the is down. The after market piece doesn't have the flat. Does anyone know if I can get away with installing the house as is with the rounded top. Any info on this one would be really appreciated.

I don't know much about Mustanges or convertables but I was just wondering - could you cut out the shape on the top of the wheel well and weld in a piece of flat metal ?

That seems to be the way I'll be going with this one. The more I look at it, I'll need that clearance for the top. Thanks for the response Bear, Joe.
