Installing Lower QTR's on 68 Firebird???????

I was wandering the best way to go about installing new lower quarters on my 68 firebird. This will be my first attempt at doing this. I am a very precise person who wants things to be done right. Just wandering the best way to go about it. Any input would be great.

I was checking out your '66 Chevy truck---AWESOME!!!

Anyway, you will find a wealth of information by just doing a search on panel replacement or quarter panel replacement (welding sheetmetal, MIG welding, etc.) in this Body-Exterior forum.

Most guys that I've seen post info on this site recommend cutting out the rusted areas and butt welding new metal in unless your whole quarter is shot (that's a whole new ballgame!). Butt welding can be done and can leave a surface that needs very little to no filler.

I'm sure someone else with more experience will chime in soon---I'm no expert, and will be replacing part of both rear quarters on my '64 Corvair convertible, so I look forward to the experts giving their advice
