Installing Stainless Steal Drip Rail Trim

I'm having an impossible time installing my dril rail trim.

Here the best picture I could get that shows the cross section of what the trim looks like....the right side is the top and has that fold over action going....the white stuff in the trim is the white lithium grease I tried to use to lubricate the trim going on.

This trim goes on the driver side and is the aft 2 foot section of the drip rail coming down the "C" pillar. That "tongue" section on the left fits inside the longer trim piece that extends to the front of the door.

It appears that the fold over on the right side is the top and is supposed to "open" up and the left side is meant to slide over the bottom of the drip rail.

Any suggestions or nifty cool tricks to get it on would be greatly appreciated.
