Installng 1955 & later frt suspension
Is it possible to install the front upper and lower A arms, etc. from a 1955 & later Chevrolet on to a 1954 and earlier Chevrolet? If not, why not? I would like to get a rack & pinion setup in my 1954 but do not want to convert it to a suspension like a Heidt's, etc. My thought is that a person could use the vega mount on the frame and then use the newer rack and pinion setup for the street rods. Only problem would be the piece that the tie rod would bolt to on the right side spindle (not sure of the actual part name) does not have two holes in it to connect the rack setup to it. Has anyone tried to do this by using the original 54 front end parts along with the rack & pinion setup. Where would a person find a steering link with two holes that would fit the 1954 spindle? Am I out in left field here or can this be done?
