Intakes sucking oil

I 'm having a problem with heads sucking in oil at intake gaskets. I replace gaskets and it improves a lot but still leaks a little. So I retighten(30 ft/lb) and then it gets real bad immediately. I'm stumped. RPM air-gap, FelPro 1205s, rebuilt Gen 1 GM heads(Aerohead). Is this a sign that the the heads were shaved more than I thought. I figured a few thousanths but maybe much more?

Hi
Check the manifold with a straight edge, it may be warped. Or temporarily use two gaskets on each side & see if that cures the problem.

My new engine sucked oil like crazy and I went through three rounds of gaskets before I got the advice here to see if the valve seals were teflon. I replaced them with viton and have been oil free since. just my 2 cents.

I installed vitons "and" umbrellas on the intakes. Just vitons on the exhaust. I've always had intakes suck oil down. I'm sure its the runners. I forgot to mention its only doing it on one head now. I'll check the intake flange with a straight-edge next time its off. Gotta get more gaskets. Maybe its a gasket /port match?

What bolt tightening pattern do you use when you install the intake?

Edelbrock site, pre-1995 sbc sequence. I'm going to use feeler gauge with no gaskets to see if theres an angle.

A trick for you. When you put the intake on dry with no gaskets put a flash light inside on the lifters. You'll be able to see the gaps or imperfections way easier.
