interior ?

i'm working on a 68 gto and i'm learning how to do my own custom interior well the person that is training me and i can't figure out how to make a panel for the back of the trunk that can be easily removed so i can hide cleaning supplies behind it and easily get them in and out
any ideas would be appreciated

Make a panel within a panel. Make a large panel to cover the back and in the center of that panel make a smaller panel that pulls out to access behind.

The person training you has never heard of snaps??? Snaps are a fundamental part of upholstery.

As stated above, make the main panel, cut a nice rounded rectangular hole in the center, then make a panel to cover that hole that snaps into place. Snaps will push the second panel 1/4" away from the base panel when its snapped in place. Cover the base panel with 1/4" closed cell foam. Screw the snaps into the panel, and allow the snaps to fully compress the foam. Now when snapped in place, the cover panel fits snugly against the base panel, with no gap at all.
