Interior glue, What is the best?
Hi, From time to time I will repair some parts of my cars interiors. Ive done door panels, headliners, carpet and installed new replacement seat covers.
Only issue is I can't find a glue that will meet or exceed OEM quality glue. 3M super 77 sucks, the super 90 is a little better but still sucks. My first jobs was in a speaker cabinet factory, And some of the cabinets they put carpet on. When they did the carpet boxes, they had a glue that came in gallon size cans and sprayed from a normal spray gun. It worked perfect. The spray gun made a nice smooth even coat of the glue and once the carpet touched the sprayed box it would not come off. Now im not saying im looking for that same glue. That was years ago and I don't believe it would make a good automotive glue. What im looking for is a OEM+ quality glue that is sold in quarts and gallons and can be sprayed from a spray gun. Anyone have a clue where I could find some? thanks  |
DAP Landau Top adhesive, the spray grade, hands down the best contact cement money can buy.

Dap is the only way to go...

Here's a place you can order it on line.

3-Ms spray grade top and trim adhesive is also very good, but it is a lot more expensive than DAP.

Thank you guys very much. That is perfect !
It is much cheaper then I would have guessed. 3M super 90 is $14.95 per can. You can get a whole gallon of that stuff for $29.99  Im sold |
Is this the same stuff? http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...273&lpage=none
I thought the name seemed familiar, I had to buy this stuff to put my counter tops in my garage. |
Here's where I buy mine..http://www.yourautotrim.com/noname37.html Very fast on shipping, ;)

Vince is right, that stuff is for gluing counter tops. There is nothing you can buy from the big box home improvement stores that will work like HHR (high heat resistant) spray grade top and trim adhesive. You need to buy it from an upholstery supply place either on line or right at the store. Also, nothing in an aerosol spray can is even close to the holding power of spray grade adhesives that are sprayed from a spray gun. |

and for spraying; a used POS paint gun or those $14 harbor freight 'paint' guns work
