Lead sheeting for insulation
I saw that RyanB says he used lead as a sound damper in his truck. Ryan is right that if you eat it it will kill you. But also if you touch it it leaves a residue that that you can pass onto your kids. I am a union sheet metal worker and our training says that the residue gets on your clothes, hands, etc. So after working with it leave your clothes in the garage to be washed. Kids are really susceptible to lead so You don't want to hug them till you have cleaned yourself up. Also if you grind on it...well you know the rest, it's not good either. So just a work of caution in the handling of lead. But it does work as a great sound deadener, just be careful.

So . . . I shouldn't have chewed those lead pellets from my pellet gun all through my kid-hood?!? Shouldn't have cast the thousands of lead soldiers in my Sears Roebuck lead soldier casting set?

Has anyone tried the same rubber padding used under house carpet? I would think that if using spray adheasive and it being prety form fitting that would work for sound and heat.
