interior metal paint? color?

I am new to this bulletin board and watn to say it has been a big help in my car restoration.

Now to my question i have a 59 country sedan, it was an ambulance from my hometown. I cant find out the interior color and would like to get it original. IT is red but i dont know what kind of red. I know the white is snowshoe white. Does anyone know what type of reds ford used in 1959?
My second question is wether or not i could use dupli-color spray paint on the interior metal. I use the engine enamel on the air filter.

Thanks
Rocky Gammon

Any auto paint supply store should be able to match the color, just take the car to them and let them match it. Interior paint is the same as exterior, only a flexerizer additive is added.

Depends on where it is. You'll need to prep the surface so you can get it to stick. The problem I've found with some spray paints is that they aren't very hard and tend to scratch easily. The metal in your car is painted with automotive paint most likely an enamel. I think you'd want to primer first and then paint it not just paint on top of the old color.

hi thanks

I went to the auto color library and got confused a little. The only red on the car is inside and i think it is torch red but am not sure. Ive looked around for the paint on the internet but cant find any. If i cant find it i think i will just do every thing a different red. I dont think i will use spary paint for the inside metal, i would rather not have to worry about scrathing it to easily.

thanks rocky

59...did you get to the paint chip chart on the site zI gave you above? You have about three colors of red for the interior. If you did not make it to the chart go to the site and click on "Select Domestic" then click on the first FORD you come to. Then click VIEW. When the page changes click on SELECT YEAR then click "View Chips" This will take you to the color charts. Click on the chart to blow it up for the colors and paint codes.
