Interior Project - Backseat Frames/Springs
Finishing up interior project on a 64 Impala, getting reading to re-upholster the seats. I have some surface rust on the backseat frames and springs, my plan is to have the frames/springs sand blasted then either painted or powder coated. Question: Will the paint or powder coating chip off easily on the springs themselves once in use? Thanks in advance...

Yes, the paint will chip off the springs, because the springs are made to flex. Painting springs is a waste of time and money. Instead of doing all that, just wire brush (or use a wire wheel on a drill) over the whole thing and apply one of the many rust treatments like POR 15 or Extend ( made by LocTite and comes in spray cans) to neutralize the rust.
