Interior Question

Hey guys,

I have a 74 Malibu and I have a question about the interior. The area where the speakers are (at the rear window) is peeling and doesnt look good at all.
What is the best way to redo this? Should I spray paint it? Carpet it?

Also, how does that piece come out? I plan on fixing this before the spring time so any help/insight would be great!

Thanks,
Joe

A good matching color carpet works well. Use poster board to make a pattern and then cut the carpet to match or a little big and trim to fit.

Make a new board out of Luann plywood that is treated for moisture and cover it in carpet.

I had a Canadian flag on my package shelf.............Don't know if you "yanks" would desecrate yours that way.............

That way too, you didn't see the speaker grills.

Red65,

Got the motor running. It is taken apart right now. Found some bent pushrods. I've got new parts on the way (carb, cam, intake, heads). Ill let you know how it turns out.

As to the carpet...where can I buy the carpet for the rear window tray? How do I "attach" it to the tray?

How do I take the tray out?

THanks,
Joe

Big,

like the posts say, no need to remove it (usually will screw up the head liner).....just make a new cover piece, use poster board for a template....and be "creative-original" as long as it looks decent with your interior......
............................................
your to far into the motor now NOT TO make it a total rebuild, take the block/crank/pistons to a good rebuild shop.....or buy a rebuilt block....got some bucks, buy a new short block=100,000 mile motor/extra $500+
