Into and Questions about 52 Chevy Styleline Ratrod

Hey!
Don't you just hate new guys who post all their questions in the intro forum before reading that they should be here in the tech forum. Well, I goofed but I'm going to leave it there and add some intro here. Living in Douglasville, GA, pretty old but not overly handy with tools (usually if we are working on something they will give me a wrench to hold or they'll take it away from me if I get close to working on something). I came up from the school of get a bigger hammer and if you can't fix it with duct tape and bailing wire then it can't be fixed. I have a 52 Chevy Styleline Deluxe when I was young (1966) and loved it. Replaced it with a 62 Belair and then a variety of foreign cars since I was stationed all over the world and you don't get a lot of choice on what you can buy or what you can do with cars in most foreign countries. Spent 23 years helping freedom to ring and came home in 92. First project out was a 1942 Ford Fordor that ended up costing me more than my house and I sold for less than what the driveline cost. So, having to learn to do some things on my own (took a welding class in high school in 1965 and I can light a torch or strike an arc and burn holes in my pants). Then I got a 1970 Super Bug with the intent of making it in to a V-rod (23 T bucket style) but when the floor pan broken in the middle and wouldn't go back together and stay with duct tape and bandaids I gave that project up.
So now my current project is a 1952 Chevy Styleline 2 door. I got it as an incomplete project. It came with a Nova from clip, a burned up 305, a turbo 400 transmission and either a late 60s Camaro or Nova rear end hung on original leafs with home made perches (not even close to being the same side and twice as wide as the springs. Anyway, lots of rust issues and glass issues and mechanical issues and stuff missing issues. Other than that it is a great car. My intent is to get it running, get the last of the paint off so the whole body will be flat black primer, get the seat bolted in and put a new blanket over it and replace the rope that goes around the seat as a seatbelt with something a little more efficient.
Questions, I've got questions. I've got a front bumper (in pieces). The center section is fairly new with some dents and good chrome. I plan to take that piece and get the dents out and use it chromed. The guards and bumper ends and sides are nasty looking and my plan for them is to have them dechromed, debented (is that really a word?) and the either powder coated or shot with flat black paint. The grill is blacked out except the teeth which are pretty good chrome. Now, I have no side moldings or trim so those holes will be welded up and the only trim will be mirrors and the door handles. I don't have a rear bumper or brackets. I see the repro bumpers for about $375 + but I'd really like to have something in flat black. Anyone know of maybe a truck bumper that would fit without looking too nerdy? I really don't want a big hunk of chrome hanging on the back.
Any help, any pictures, any respberries are welcome (you can't blame me for cutting up a survivor, that's the way it came to me).
Thanks,
Klif50
p.s. for the love of everything hot rodded please don't tell my wife what I'm doing until it's fixed up enough for her to refuse to ride in it.
