Iowa in the winter. HELP!!!

I was informed I may have to go to IOWA in a couple weeks to the Winnebago plant for a Quality seminar. Some how I'm thinking I won't end up in the lap of luxury. The plant is in the northern part of the state, Forest City. Most fly into Minneapolis and drive south. I think Forest City is a miss leading name as well.

Any help would be nice.

Hey Madd.. I'm from Iowa... it's not so bad... I just hit a deer with my s-10. Snow or Ice storms happen in the winter at the drop of a hat- don't drop yours!!! We don't have snow... yet! They say if you don't like the weather here, stay a few days, it will change!! I'm in southern Iowa so it's a little different than northern... have fun here!!

Is this Heaven?

I grew up in a small town in Northeast Iowa. My fondest memory of Halloween is trick or treating in the middle of a 5 inch snowstorm when I was 8! The weather usually isn't that bad this time of year. If you get some time off, cruise over and catch the road to Clear Lake. check out the Surf Ballroom and the Buddy Holly/Ritchie Valens/Big Bopper memorial. It is only 25 miles or so from Forest City.

Hey Madd,
Sounds to me and reading Dragan J's notes, I would bring the following:
Ice Skates, Cross Country Skis, a chin tie for the hat, and maybe some heavy duty long undies.
Hope you stay warm and have a good time. You'll probally be surprised, lets hope so.
Dutch

Iowa in winter

Hey Madd ,
I work in Albert Lea ,MN. just a few miles north of IA .border .
Zonk hit the nail just about right on the head ,his directions are pretty darn close .I also worked for Winnebago for a short time about 25 years ago when I was between body shops . Forest City is a nice little town and the people are as friendly as you will find anywhere .As far as the weather ,well----as someone said , if you don't like the weather here ,just hang around for 15 minutes.
In mid-November the weather is a crap shoot around here .I have seen it snow several inches ,and other years it has been in the 70's clear up 'til Turkey Day . Also ,could you fly into Mason City ? The airport is small compared to Minneapolis ,but it does have average size plane traffic in & out of there .Also it's only about 3o miles (+,-) from Forest City . Anyway ,have a good time ,
and if you get a chance ,check out the Surf in Clear Lake . Rick
P.S.Good luck with the C-Cab tin ,& post some pics when done !

I always thought that was Ohio's saying!! Have fun Madd. And don't provoke the Iowans too much.

Looks like I am going the week after Thanksgiving. I will definitely do the memorial. I didn't even know it existed. I may fly into Des Moines and visit my sister in Cedar Falls while out in that area. I will make full report upon thawing on return.
Where are my mukluk's? Do they make sub degree parka's in a Hawaiian print?
