Its Just a Truck

Here is my DD. Go ahead and call me crazy

It is a 70 c10, which was my fathers when he was 16. And before that it was my grandmothers.. Probably thinking, grandmother? Yeah... Stock truck.. But, noope! She bought it around 30 years ago. It already had a built small block, muncie 4 speed, and 3.73. I sadly dont know much about the motor, but the way she talks it was plenty for here to make the guys cry home lol

Then when dad got it, he had a decent job and nothing else to do. He'd build a motor for nearly every weekend.. If they didn't blow, he would sale them and restart. Sounds like the life if you ask me lol. Had anything from a 305, to 454.

Now, that I am 16 and the truck has sat since I was born its my turn. I love the thing to death! Just got it back on the road. Its now got a 355, 64cc double hump heads, 508 lift 313 duration cam, Forged (supposedly) Flat tops, stock rods and crank for now, arp rockers, Torker2 intake, holley 750, Black Jack Headers, annnnd Gm hei. Now, I am sure I am missing some things. A lot was reused in the rebuild to, so I don't know to much about it really. Like for the heads, we had them machined so I really dont know if the springs/Valves are stock. We reused them. Along with bottom end, after getting things balanced. New cam and lifters, gear drive, carb. Other than that, yeah. I could say it may have 10:5 to 11:1 compression, but dont know that for sure. The motor pulls and runs like a dream. I dont really care about hp, but it may be in the 4s. Really though, thats just a number lol As for gearing, it has a 2200 stall, turbo 400 that was built wayyy before my time, supposedly has a shift kit, if so I dont know the details.. And it has a 4.11 12 bolt.

I enjoy this truck more than you could imagine.. Its not perfect, like it was when it was parked. But considering its sat since I was born, its not THAT bad... All I have done looks wise is clean things up and put a fresh seat cover on it. Everything else, is like dad had it.

Broke speedo, I guess this is around 55. Went by a few cops at this, and not pulled over yet..

Just got tires, but don't have any pics of them yet.. Went a little taller, and skinnier.. From a 295-50-15 to 275-60-15. I like it more.. I'll get pics soon.

I do have a few plans. Rally wheels (Maybe, I like the old cragars, but also like the stocker look), 2 inch lower in back with stiffer springs to level it out a tad, different valve covers, 5 speed, not sure on paint Ill be dealing with rust repair for awhile, get the spare back on it, I have a 454 waiting in the building along with another small block. One day, one day.... Wood bed, right now it has plywood lol, and a few other things I will add later on. I like SIMPLICITY.

Realized my rocker started loosening up again, and found this.. Lucky enough, nothing got into the oil stream and had a spare laying around. All is good now

Love the truck Kyle...lots of potential...I've built several and if you need any advice I'd be happy to help with any ideas or suggestions.

Best of luck, with your enthusiasm I'm sure you will get it to where you want.

Thanks guys! It just has rust in all the normal places. Once we get that cleared out, it'll be ready for some paint.

So, after getting new collectors. Tonight, I was taking my girlfriend home, and when we got to her neighborhood, right before Her drive way I went over a speed bump... Heard something, crack. Thought to myself I heard a little exhaust leak form, then the final speed bump came up, and it let go. The muffler snapped off... On the front of the muffler itself, where it was welded on. It had finally rusted away. Laughed it off, her brother helped me get it free and layed it in my bed.. Although inside, I knew I had a 45 minute drive ahead of me.. Stayed there a bit then headed home. I expected to go deaf on the way home, but honestly I like it better.. Took away the annoying flowmaster drone. May just delete the other and be done with it. In my county, as long as it has pipe its not illegal. So, It's all good lol I hate the ugly tips, anyways. Two birds with one stone!

Bent a valve.. Awesome. So while we have it apart, cam swap. Going smaller. For more of a torque cam.. Stock style. So 4 speed is postponed. Again.
