if you were to run down the road lit up like that, every damn rubbernecker on the road would freak out, Oh honey, look at that, ain't it purty? CRASH! right into someother moron who wasn't watching the road either......
but i ran some red neon on the as$end of a little crotch rocket. never was pulled over for it...... I felt more visible, but if it had been anything but red, i'd of had problems i'm sure.... |

so i wonder why theirs a ride height law?-it just seems to me that theirs just a bunch of people up the ladder that think its funny to give us tickets for stupid laws that most people dont know exist.
if you cant bore it stroke it- later |

I think the ride hight law has something to do with the bumper height, so your bumper lines up with every one else. But then that raises the question of all these 4x4's that are like monster trucks on the highway.

Most, if not all of the "ride height" laws pertain to having a vehicle where any part of the suspension or frame will NOT be touching the ground in the event of a flat tire. If that were to occur, the control of the vehicle will be lost and could cause serious conditions to other vehicles on the road.
This does not pertain to vehicles that are parked and have the air suspension or hydraulics at their lowest point for show purposes. As to "I've got rights"; this is a common misconception. While only Congress can pass a law, almost any governing body or agency can pass an ordinance or resolution. They have the same effect as a "law". For example; the local Board of Health passed a resolution that banned smoking in bars and restaurants. This was done without voter approval or disapproval. It is enforced the same as any law passed by Congress. Since the folks that made the resolution are not elected officials, you can't even vote them out of office if you don't like what they have done. |

Most states use the bumper height or distance to the middle of the headlights minimum so the the men and women who enforce the laws do not have to get down in order to inspect the scrub line, which is the point at which a metal part of the car, not including exhaust will come in contact with the ground in case of a blowout. I am a member of the Kansas NSRA (National Street Rod Association) safety team and I have looked at several cars that are real close on this issue, especially some with dropped axles. As the profile on tires gets shorter and shorter this become very important as you will not have near the safety margin when a tire blows out, and if you drive them you will at some time have a blow out. As far as the lights under the car, to me that is annoying when you are driving down the road, but each to his own, it just draws unwanted attention to you by the powers that be. Just my 2 cents worth.

Hey there Cranknrods. I think Mad summed it up man, its not what Rights you have but what you Have Left? There are safety issues that come under scrutiny but some of these laws are just plain stupid! I guess the Law dosn't want you scrapin off the Asphalt as you cut down da road. I had a Statie stop me to inspect my 62 Ford to see if my rear bumper was to high or the front was to low?? I had big tires on the rear and air shocks and small tires on the front and She thought I was ridin in violation the Law, I wasn't. I think she just wanted to CK out my big block!! Ya gotta remember to Vote to Keep your rights and Not keep Givin them up to these new Laws to satisfy someone elses idea of what You should of should not be doing with Your Ride!
Yes it does make a difference when You Vote! Todd Rat Rods Rule! |

Breaking a law is illegal: violating a Dumb A** agency directive is not. You can tell them to go Pee up a rope and the find out real quick they do not have a legal leg to stand on. We had a person come into our private neighborhood to inspect the dam on our property. It has been there since the late 50s, but she said it was a high hazard and had to be inspected. I asked her to send me a copy of the law that said she had the authority to trespass on private property. She said since it obviously upset me she would send it. Two days later, I received a copy of an NC Environmental directive that outlined all the procedures for getting a permit to build a dam and all the inspection requirements. The second sentence in the Introduction, stated that this directive had been superseded. I could have stopped reading then, but did read it several time, called her back and told her there was nothing in that directive that authorized her to trespass or inspect the subject dam. I also called her attention to the sentence that said this directive had been superseded and request she try again to provide me a copy of her authority. In the meantime, she better come with a court order and a Deputy escort, or I would have her arrested for trespassing. That was two years ago and have not seen nor heard from them since. What am I saying, if there is not a law, then don't roll over an give up some of your rights!!

I agree with all of ya.
I have been running my Prowler without front bumpers or a front license plate for two years now. Both are required by law in CA. I have never been stopped by a cop yet although one asked me if I wanted to race. LOL There will come a day when I get stopped for it though. I will get the ticket sooner or later cause you can beat city hall. |

Pretty much those with enough money that they don't have to work have the time to delete those things which annoy them. The rest of us have day jobs. Pretty much we better get used to living in a politically correct world were personal choice is taken from a list of ecepted activities..Give up your personal libertys for the sake of an activists pride but make sure you pay taxes.
Also gotta love the fact that those who make the laws that govern you daily life and lately dictate your personal life are shooting each other at work. Forget hotrod parts the next step in Government control is a regulated diet. There allready proposing extra high taxes on what they define as "Junkfood". |

In Missouri, Trucks bumper heights can't be over 3" higher than factory truck bumpers. The reason they stated is...Incase of a rearend wreck, the truck won't run over the car in front of it. and running into the back of a truck you won't go under it and killing yourself.
As for neon lights, can't have red or blue in front of the car or red under the car. People will think it's a emergency vehicle, or red on the rear of the car. it blends in with the brake lights and people won't see your brakes lights come on. (i'm guessing it looks like your thrid brake light) |

With the lights I actually agree. The reasoning is in the same area as why airplane lights are different colors, When you see red, you know to stop because something is coming up infront of you. When you see white you know to get the F* out of the way. When you see one yellow you really don't care but when you see two yellow, it might be a good idea to slow down for possible hazards.
If someone messes with their lights, it could interfere with drivers positioning their cars in poor visibility...when lights were meant to be used. As for the ground clearence, perhaps they dont need everyone tearing their oil pans off creating a mess Otherwise all the performance laws suck. Including emissions on non-daily drivers. |

a solution to all of this
all you need is A: a motorized license plate cover
B: a 200 shot of nitrous lets see a cop pull you over, ive seen cops in testerosas and in turbo carreras, not even they will be able to touch you |
