Still a little rough around the edges as we work on getting the groove right with the new drummer & guitarist, but sounding much more promising. The audio is a bit distorted but this is recorded on the drummers phone as he uses these vids for practise & self-criticism.

Anyway, here's Mercy Mercy Mercy.

Well, after just two rehearsals with the guitarist, it seems we're closer than we thought. Some tidying up of the drums has helped create the feel I was after, too.

Anyway, here's some stuff from today's session still lacking the keys I'm afraid...and please take the time to comment as it makes it seem all the more worthwhile for us guys. Thanks.

The Weasil

Affirmation (Bit of a c0ck up at the start )

Sookie Sookie

Hoochie Coo Chickie

Ummh (Another c0ck up! )

Caravan

Coming Home Baby

Equinox

I enjoyed it, HOWEVER, I sure miss the keys, a vocalist wouldn't hurt none and I won't even mention a horn section and some chick singers in the background. Otherwise, good licks from all - - - and BTW, IMHO you are a good solid bassman that could sit in with any band.

I like to think so too, but it's nice to hear someone say it.

Starting to gel properly today. I actually feel that we're getting somewhere.

Chameleon

It's still lacking the keys, but we've just about nailed the structure. There are a few more vids from today on the same YouTube channel should you feel the urge to abuse your eardrums.

I hear shades of David Bowie's. "Stay" in there.... Nice work!

As wretched says, need some vocals man!

The idea is to keep it instrumental. Once the keys join in, the difference should be substantial. Glad you like it.

You sure can see the tightness getting there, however, I gotta be honest and say that I'm not thrilled with the tone you selected. I also realize that bass tone is a personal choice but it's a little too throaty for me. Do y'all ever do any boogie shuffles or just mostly "funk"?

Well, it's not strictly funk, more break beat, or 'race music' as it became known.

As for tone, I've been experimenting with the amp settings & I've noticed it all sounds a little different live to the video recordings. I'll keep playing with it.

Hope you know I wasn't being critical, just asking and commenting - - - sometimes the audio sounds different than the live sound, especially on different computers so it could be that also. Hmmmm, race music? we could never get by with that nomenclature here in the States these days.

Have a great weekend,
WR

'Affirmation' from this afternoons session, if you fancy a listen. I'd say watch, but you can't see much apart from Jase on drums...

Really coming together nicely now, though.

With a couple of days to go before our debut gig, the keys player graced us with his presence in the rehearsal room today & it feels good.

Here's a snippet from the session - Walk On By + Bringing Down The Birds

Well, the gig went really well & we've already got a booking for next Saturday!

There were a few obligatory bum notes & stuff but on the whole, the audience, venue management & the guys in the band were really pleased.

A friend of mine very kindly offered to record the set for us & so here's a taster from the afternoons fun

I hope you like it. I'll share more links once the guy uploads them.
