Jamming

Me & some friends working out in the shed. It's a bit rough around the edges, but I thought I'd share anyway.

Very mellow man! I like it! You, Sir, are quite the multi-talented fellow. Any CDs being released?

Well, we were in the studio last night, as a matter of fact, recording some songs for a demo to hand out to pubs & clubs. But I'm talking about my other project, the function band, not the jazzy bunch you see on the video.

I have other recordings I've made over the years. It's always good to record yourself periodically, that way you can gauge whether your playing is headed in the right direction.

Speaking of which, I have been 'misled' by a few bad influences at times - here's a clip of me doing my 'other' thing. It's not safe for work, so wait 'til you get home to view it.

Very cool, didn't know what to expect and in first few measures had me hooked, very cool. I had a couple of young kids in a house behind me playing smooth jazz on the weekends and I loved it. As I was working around the yard or garage it was like I was a pool boy at some beach resort and they had a live band at the bar.

That's great to know. There doesn't seem to be too many musicians playing this lovely kinda groovy stuff. I'm currently uploading some more to YouTube, so watch this space.

Once again, thanks for the positive comments.

This one takes a short while to get going, but it's a keeper. Or atleast it will be when I get the bass right!

Groovy. I like it,,,and the other ganga parody is dam creative

I miss the fun I had back in the day with the boys in our post high school band. Nothing too serious we did play a bar or two on occasion. Mostly jamming and having fun. Folks knew we were not being too serious due to our name "The Purple Helmets" LMAO

I am a lover of music but never quite "got" improvisational Jazz, just didn't get it. That all changed when I got a book for Christmas called "The 100 greatest albums of all time" and I started buying them (with the help of a neighbor I know have about 80 of them!), and mostly the ones that I had never thought of buying. One of those was Miles Davis "Kinda Blue". With the description of how this album was made in ONE take by three musicians (or is it four?) that had not even rehearsed the song! This was all I needed to grab my attention and I heard it with a completely different ear. All I could think of was how if they had go Elvis and the boys in Sun and gave them a tempo in the key of E and said go for it, what would it sound like? LOL, not very good I can bet on that!

Yes this music is now one of my favorites. You guys sound great and I wish I could hear it live.
