Jeep Engine Blown

drove 17k miles without oil change; engine seized and two garages struggling to find answer. any chance this can be rebuilt? Is this definitely an engine change? Are some of these online engine resellers risky, buying without a mechanic seeing it before it ships??

Ummmm, answer is, you drove it 17K without changing the oil.

Whether it can be saved or not is dependent on the damage. If a rod seized on the crank, you can replace the rod and turn the crank for undersize bearings down to 0.030" undersize. If the crank is hurt beyond that, then a crank replacement is in order.

If the crank screwed up one or more main bearings and the saddle of the block, it can usually be saved anyway by align boring the block.

As far as buying a crate motor, I won't do it. I want to measure and choose everything myself. I simply do not trust anyone. If there is any opportunity at all to cheat, somebody out there will do it. That's Murphy's Conclusion, filed right before Murphy's Law.
