Jeep EVS II vehicle security system
Where/how can I remove the Mopar EVS II system? Got a '97 Grand Cherokee with a 4.0 that won't start; the Mopar Electronic Vehicle Security System (EVS II) rapidly blinks like the alarm is tripped. It acts like it's sensing low battery voltage. I've cleaned and replaced the battery cables, load-tested the battery (even swapped it out), and it still locks out the starter system and triggers the alarm/flashing lights. The EVS II operating instructions that were in the glove box states there is an emergency override procedure where you must press the hidden override button (in the box where it describes: "The disarm button is mounted:" is blank.) to disarm. Don't know where the override button is; I ususally run the system in the valet mode. Reading about the low voltage problem in the instructions, describes that this may be a system malfunction and seek a Mopar dealer as soon as possible. I see that I can purchase the Mopar EVS II system online; I'd rather just take the thing out. Anyone seen this before? Jeep has 176K miles and I'd rather not take it to the dealer, $$$$$$.

EVS security system
Finally decided to jump in and find out how to remove this thing. Looks like a dealer installed device, not factory. The EVS II control box is zip-tied under the driver's dash; so far I've removed the control module, the bull horn, the shock sensor (and yes, there is an adjustment for the sensitivity), and most of the wiring. Still have to remove the wiring connected to the courtesey lamps and the door lock circuit; then to the ignition interface.
