It looks like it has a little sheen (sp) to it. Does it or is it pretty flat looking? I am looking for something with a little sheen.

raven316...........good to see you finished it ! looks good........... SMF SpeedandCustom i used JDBB on farm equipment about 3 years ago.it sits out 24/7-365 in midwest whether and has just lost a little bit of shine. been watching the tread for any other input before shooting my '46 chevy truck. still have not made up my mind, but think it's a strong poss, if no one states they have had problems. farm equipment and hotrods are not the same, so i want to be sure before i proceed.

The JDBB stuff seems to hold good, etc. I just want to know about the high gloss stuff. I am sure it probably fades and will start peeling. But if it didn't then heck why buy gloss black from PPG or such a place when I can use John Deere high gloss black. Oh well. I don't know what I will use. I think to test it out I will use the high gloss stuff on my chassis for the 48, 66 and 85.

Jjbb

I had to order it from the local dealer and they would only order two gallons, on the other hand it was only $25 a gallon. I assume they wouldn't be able to ship it to California but maybe I could.

Yeah California and the EPA have strict laws there.... Not sure why some dealers wont order you guys just ONE gallon or some wont order MORE than one gallon. Here at mine they said they have to order I think 5 or 10 gallons of primer AND paint but that I don't have to buy them all, I can buy as many as I want. But then again I was sucking up to the lady a little bit and she was into hot rods so.... Yeah.

If anyone wants a really good quality satin black urethane one of if not the best I have ever used is Sikkens Autocryl Rally Black. Tough as nails and won't fade and peel. Akzo Nobel got it right with this one.

Leave the tractor paint for tractors IMO

Dealer

Yeah, the giys at the local dealer were baffled, they had a bunch of JD oaint but they had never heard of the Blitz Black until I wandered in, When they looked it up they said it only came in two gallon lots. I guess it's because that's the way it is boxed?

My local dealer said they had ordered it recently for someone but claimed to have a minimum. I found a bunch of it on the shelf at another dealer 30 miles away, so I just drove up there.

so looks like we can get JDBB here in CA. its under a different part number..(TY25669)

now my question: would i get away spraying both the primer and JDBB with the gun in the pic attatched?

sorry ive never painted before so this would be my 1st project...

also: im getting different prices on the paint primer reducer and hardener..

paint-29
primer-45
reducer-21
hardener-46

and everytime i call i get different prices.. even tho i give the same part number everytime..

EDIT.. i cant get that paint here in ca.. 3 places have told me that under part TY 25669 its no legal and they cant ship it to CA..

however i called this other place and told me they have some in stock, but they didnt know if they were qrts or gallons and they game me a price of 29 and some cents.. if its true that they have.. can i use any universal thinner, hardner, and primer??

the weird thing is that they do have spray cans in stock.. go figure
