i have watched this board for a long time and have finally painted my 48 Dodge pu. This paint has so far has done everything that I had expected. The price can't be beat, $45 for paint and reducer- $18 for Napa Auto Parts synthetic enamal hardner. The satin look is perfect, not too flat and not too shiny. Very easy to wash, hard to scratch. Easy to shoot with no tiger striping, 70 degrees. I want to thank everyone on this board for their input good and bad about their adventures with this product. I will as time allows add pics and desciptions about the truck. Thanks again, Aaron

Hey Jeepster, the truck looks great! I'm seriously considering painting my T-bucket with JDBB this winter. Thanks for the info on the hardener.

Finally after 3 months of planning its finally getting done. I have been working on a 1988 K5 Blazer that I thought would just look perfect with this paint. I got 2 gallons of JDBB and purchased my own reducer and hardener for the application process.

Did the 8:1:1 ratio and it sprayed and covered perfect. No problems with striping at all like others were having. I think spraying at a lower temperature helped, around 65 degrees, with the drying and hardening of the paint.

Purchased a gun from Harbor Freight and borrowed a compressor from a friend. Followed just like the instructions said...1 light first coat, waited 10-15 minutes then layed out a good covering coat onto the entire truck. Let that coat sit, then came back and layed another down. After that i went ahead and added one light mist coat that really made the paint pop and get that look i was aiming for.

Im going to be putting the truck back together today after work and should be able to get some better pictures than these when im done. crappy camera phone picture this morning is all i had running out the door.

My car has laquer paint(at least thats what a bodyshop told me)they want 4to5 thousand to strip it all off and basecoat-clearcoat.I don;t have that kind of cash and besides its a hotrod and I want to attempt it myself. Can the john deere paint like u used be applyed over the laquer if I sand it down,or do I have to strip all the old paint off? My car is 2 tone now and looks good that way,but it has lots of chips and I think the front-end was repainted at one time so it dosen't match the rest of it.How about some suggestions,I think it would look good in the blitz black,or does it look better shiney? If I redo in shiney should I stick with 2 tone,or not.I'm a gemini and can't ever decide anything
by the way-does anyone recognise this car? I bought it from a guy in Ohio,Hhe bought it in florida and it was built in california has a datsun 4 cyl and 5 speed

If anyone has used it let us know. I have used there epoxy primer and was pleased with it and it is available in my area and mail order which is IMPORTANT because I can not buy blitz black from tractor supply in California ed ke6bnl

Cool looking little car!

I am picturing this car looking real cool in all bright yellow!
JMHO.

Strip the car yourself. Then go with epoxy primer.

What are the panels of the car made of? It is important to know before you decide the best way to strip it.

I would post these questions in another thread if I were you.
I think most of the knowledgeable folks on this forum are pretty tired of this Blitz Black thread and just ignore it.

Other than Mother Nature,,, one of the wifes old dish towels and some car wash soap, then drive the crap out of it to dry it off. Just like the paint, nice and simple. Aaron

It's black.

Sometimes in pics it looks greenish and sometimes it looks more grey than black, but looking at it in person, it's black.

Here's a few more pics of my 52...
